We are delighted to spotlight a new hire at Nationwide Property & Appraisal Services, Karen Podgorski.Karen Podgorski joined Nationwide at the end of July and is VP of Staff Appraisers. Her entire career has been in the appraisal business, where she has not only had her own practice but has also held numerous roles at mortgage companies and AMCs. Karen’s background and experience have made her uniquely qualified for her role at Nationwide. She has varied management experience, from managing review appraisers to, most recently, developing a training program for appraisal trainees. A self-described appraisal junkie, the experience of building out the training program and fostering the relationships between supervisory appraisers and trainees was one of the most rewarding of her career. It drove home the importance of knowledge sharing and teamwork, even though appraisers typically function independently. Karen is excited to get to know everyone and aims to create an environment where the team can share knowledge where no one feels like they are on an island. Karen was born and raised in Western Massachusetts and moved to California in 2004, seeking a better climate. After a winter filled with snow and shoveling numerous times a day, she decided she had enough and relocated to Southern California. Still a weather chaser, Karen is very active and loves the outdoors. She enjoys cycling and golf and is a die-hard Red Sox, Bruins, and Patriots fan. She also enjoys perfecting her homemade pizza dough for her outdoor pizza oven and entertaining family and friends. She resides in La Quinta, CA, with her partner and her puppy, Wesley.
