When it comes to operations, leadership makes all the difference — and at NPAS, we are lucky to have some of the best. This month, we are celebrating our four Operations VPs, each of whom brings unique experience, dedication, and heart to their teams and the company at large. From launching departments to mentoring talent, they have helped shape NPAS into what it is today. Get to know John, Jackie, Chris, and Amber — our MayVPs.
"This remarkable team of VPs started their careers in entry-level roles, and through dedication, resilience, and a passion for excellence, they've grown into the leaders they are today. The strongest teams are led by example and foster a culture of trust, growth, and enduring success; it is the only way to triumph in the everchanging Appraisal Profession. Nationwide is lucky to have this support system under senior leadership, allowing us to invest valued time into enhancing our client experience and service offerings. It has been nothing short of amazing to watch this teams transformation. Their journey is a testament to what's possible with hard work and a shared commitment to growth."
— Rachel Sandora, SVP - Operations
John Tierney | VP – Orders
Originally from Florida, John moved to Kansas just before high school and has called it home ever since. A devoted family man, John enjoys spending time with his wife, two kids, and their two dogs. When he's not with family, you'll likely find him on the golf course or watching sports.
John began his NPAS journey through the acquisition of OrderPro, our first acquisition. Despite the potential challenges of such a transition, John found the experience welcoming and seamless. With prior experience at three different Asset Management Companies, he confidently states that none compare to NPAS. He values the recognition of hard work and the collaborative spirit that defines the company.
“I take the VP role very seriously; I strive to help my team and the company be the best they can be. I try to lead by example and always ensure that we work as a team. As cliché as it is, my favorite line is ‘teamwork makes the dream work.’ I take a lot of pride in helping the company move forward and grow as much as possible.”
Jackie Smith | VP – Customer Service
Jackie has been in the mortgage and appraisal world since she was 19. She and her fiancé are huge Disney fans and visit Disney World at least twice a year. They are proud Disney Adults — no kids, just lots of character meet-and-greets. In her spare time, she enjoys diamond painting, usually something Disney themed.
Her time at NPAS has been a valuable journey of growth, learning, and contribution. She has had the chance to work with talented people, take on meaningful responsibilities, and challenge herself to grow both professionally and personally. Every experience — whether a success or a learning moment — has shaped her into a more capable and confident professional.
“Leadership means more to me than just holding a title. It's about stepping up with purpose, responsibility, and a heart for service. To me, it means being someone others can count on, someone who shows up, listens, and leads with integrity. It's also about setting an example by staying positive and being accountable.”
Chris Brooks | VP – Client Management
Chris grew up in Bucks County, PA, and met his wife, Jamie, in high school. They went to prom together, spent senior week in Cancun with friends, and both graduated from Bloomsburg University. This June marks their 20th wedding anniversary, which they are celebrating by chartering a catamaran through the British Virgin Islands with two other couples.
He’s a proud dad to two daughters (#girldad) Mia (16), class president and field hockey player, and Stella (12), who plays soccer, field hockey, and basketball. Chris is also an Eagles season ticket holder and a diehard Philly sports fan.
In 2024, Chris faced a major health challenge with Adenoid Cystic Cancer. After surgery and radiation, he was declared cancer-free in November. This experience deepened his appreciation for life and empathy for others.
Chris joined NPAS in 2015 as the fourth Account Executive and has grown alongside the company. From 30 employees to over 150, and from 2,000 to 10,000 monthly appraisals, he has witnessed and contributed to tremendous growth.
“Being a VP at NPAS means leading with a client first mentality by developing strong relationships. When I was first hired by NPAS, there was saying that was often referenced, “Think of yourself as the customer.” I think that simple saying really instilled the importance of putting the client first and always striving to provide the highest level of service. In addition to that, NPAS is all about the people and the relationships created by working here, both internally with fellow teammates and externally with clients.”
Amber Stojanov | VP – Customer Service & Alternative Valuations
Amber started in the mortgage industry in the late '90s and transitioned to the AMC world in 2010. After coming from two smaller AMCs and merging with NPAS in 2021, she feels lucky to be part of such a wonderful company. She credits the incredible leadership of Rachel and Joe and the collaborative strength of her fellow VPs for helping operations run smoothly. Amber also serves on the board of directors for the Oregon Mortgage Bankers Association — now in her third year.
She and her husband of 28 years are passionate about food and love recreating restaurant-quality meals at home, inspired by their favorite French, Italian, and Eastern European dishes. They’ve lived in Portland, OR, for most of their lives and are re-exploring the wonders of the Pacific Northwest together. Their son, Alex, sometimes joins — though he usually stays back with their cat Machko (which means “cat” in Serbian).
To balance her foodie lifestyle, Amber takes brisk daily walks around her neighborhood with views of Mt. Hood, Fairview Lake, and all kinds of wildlife — it’s her favorite time of day.
“Having incredible leaders like Rachel and Joe has been the biggest gift. Knowing your fellow VPs are always on the ball keeps all departments smooth by being incredible resources for one another. It is rare to find a company that invests in and empowers their employees as much as NPAS does.”
